QANAT CURA
* cura _ direct origin from the Latin word cura, and from archaic Latin coira. If once considered as deriving from the word cor [heart] and the phrase quia cor urat [what warms up the earth], modern linguists relate it either to the proto-indo european root *kʷeys or to *(s)kewh, both referring to paying attention, taking care, looking and listening.
QANAT CURA is a web exhibition programme framing a protocol of diffused curating and care among and beyond the members of the QANAT collective body. Testing a new form of being together in times of ‘social distancing’, QANAT CURA explores modes in which processes of recognition, redistribution and solidarity could be enacted via a chain of invitations grounded in personal commitments and shared responsibility.
In the upcoming weeks and months, the still blank pages of the future QANAT web archive will be animated by individual proposals, each curated by a QANAT ‘digger’. These latter are imagined as spaces through which each member of the collective may articulate and share her relationality to the project and her surrounding world at large, by displaying and curating the work, reflections or practices of artists, thinkers, groups and realities that either during these months or in general have informed and inspired her praxis.
As a collective endeavour in becoming, in the last years QANAT has been testing diverse modes of collaborative working aimed at commoning practices and at making the different positions, geographies, idea/l/s and interests that traverse and nourish it resonate with one another. In continuity with this, QANAT CURA responds to an ongoing process of collective-making which asks each of us to (un)learn from, and root in each other’s world(view) as a way to interlace together and allow (even temporary) fragile collective grammars to emerge.
Yet, in a time framed as one of apparent suspension and waiting which nonetheless has allowed structural precarity to dramatically increase and spread, QANAT CURA encapsulates also another set of attempts. One directed to recognise and commit to different forms of solidarity that emerge from within moments of ‘crisis’, combined with one aiming at enacting a process of redistribution of our own material grounds. As such, while each curator has freely framed her proposal according to her matters of care, all embody the notion of redistributive solidarity, yet conjugated differently, as by either involving close realities and friends we care for, or projects that in turn operate in terms of proximity and care.
Moreover, conscious of the diffused self-exploitative praxis that generally informs systems of cultural production and circulation, we have required each other to balance the terms of our invitations to the material contribution we could offer. This is why, with minor exceptions motivated by the heart-desire of those involved, most of the works and materials shaping the curated proposals we designed are neither new nor unpublished work, but rather edited versions of pre-existing matters.
Still, by recomposing and reknitting them together, by carrying and caring for them, we trust that new lines will be drawn, existing circles enlarged, and yet more channels dug.

ينسقها حفارو قناة. تم تخيّل كل من هذه الصفحات كمساحة تتيح لأعضاء المجموعة صياغة ومشاركة علاقتهم بالمشروع بشكل خاص و محيطهم بشكل عام، من خلال تنسيق وعرض أعمال وتأملات وممارسات فنانين
ومفكرين ومجموعات وأحداث ألهمت وأبلغت ممارسات المجموعة خلال الأشهر الماضية
في سير جماعي نحو صيرورة ما، قامت قناة خلال السنوات الماضية بتجريب أنماط متنوعة من العمل التعاوني بغاية تأنيس الممارسات وتوليف المواقف والجغرافيات والأفكار والقيم والاهتمامات المختلفة التي تغذي وتجتاز المجموعة. لأجل هذا، يستجيب معرض قناة تروي لعملية تكوين-جماعي مستمرة، تطالبنا بالتخلص من علم غير نافع واستقاء تصورات بعضنا البعض عن العالم في سعي لخلق لغة مشتركة، متداخلة وهشة، وأحيانًا مؤقتة
ولكن هذا ليس كل شيء، في زمن مليء بالانتظار والتعطل والذي أتاح ازدياد وانتشار حالة من التزعزع البنيوية، يضم المعرض مجموعة أخرى من المحاولات، إحداها تسعى لاستشفاف أشكال مختلفة من التضامن والالتزام بها، خاصة تلك التي ولدتها الأزمات، مقترنة بمحاولة أخرى تطمح إلى تفعيل عملية إعادة توزيع أدواتنا المادية. بهذا، ورغم قيام كل من القيّمين بتشكيل مقترح ودعوة حسب اهتماماته/ا الخاصة، إلا أنّ الكل يجمع على إعادة توزيع الموارد كفعل تضامني، يمكن اشتقاقه بطرق مختلفة، إما بإشراك أصدقاء من محيطنا القريب، أو مشاريع مشابهة تعنى بدورها بالمجاورة والرعاية
علاوة على ذلك، وإداراكًا منا لممارسات الاستغلال الذاتي المنتشرة التي تغذي أنظمة الإنتاج الثقافي وتداوله بشكل عام، طلبنا من بعضنا البعض تعديل شروط دعواتنا وفقًا للمساهمة المادية التي نستطيع تقديمها برمزيتها وتواضعها. ولهذا، بالإضافة إلى بعض الاستثناءات المدفوعة برغبة بعض القيّمين، معظم الأعمال والمواد التي تشكل نواة المعارض هي ليست أعمال جديدة أو غير منشورة، بل نسخًا معدلة من أعمال تم إنتاجها مسبقًا
وهكذا، بعد تشكيل وحياكة الأعمال معًأ، وبعد حملها والعناية بها، نحن على ثقة أن خطوطًا جديدة ستظهر، ودوائرنا الحالية ستكبر، ومزيد من القنوات ستحفر
