Shayma Nader is an artist and researcher based in Palestine who started collaborating with Qanat in 2017. She is interested in the transmission of collective experience through narration. Narration is understood as a practice of collective memory and struggle through which meaning is created and negotiated by an active repetition and rewriting of histories and actions. Using songs, fiction, etymology and folktales, she explores stories and events whose impact transcends generations and leaves imprints on the individual and the collective. A recurring question underlying the process has been how do we narrate ourselves to ourselves, and consequently, how do we construct a future for all to share? In the framework of Qanat, these interests have translated into a number of projects, such as Tussamrt and Nothing is Owned, Everything is Shared, developed through two residencies between 2017 and 2018, inquiring how traditional oral forms are used to contest extractivism and water grabbing in Imider (Morocco) and Hydrofutures: Marrakech, a workshop developed in 2020 adopting science fiction as a genre to collectively explore futures around water and the city.
شيماء نادر هي فنانة وباحثة تقيم في فلسطين، بدأت تعاونها مع قناة في 2017. يستكشف عملها دور السرد والخيال في تناقل التجارب والصراعات المشتركة ويحاول توظيف السرد كممارسة للذاكرة الجمعية، يتم عبرها خلق المعاني والتشكيك بها في فعل مستمر لإعادة كتابة التاريخ، فهمه وتأديته. تستخدم نادر الأغاني والخيال والتسجيلات الصوتية والقصص الشعبية لاستكشاف قصصًا وأحداث تتجاوز الأجيال وتترك بصمتها على الفرد والمجموعة. أحد الأسئلة المتكررة في عملها هو، كيف نروي أنفسنا لأنفسنا، وبالتالي، كيف نصنع مستقبًلا نستطيع جميعًا مشاركته؟ في إطار قناة، أنتجت نادر عدة مشاريع منها "تسمرت" و"كل شيء مشترك" خلال إقامتين فنيتين بين 2017 و 2018 اللذان استكشفا الفنون الشفوية المستخدمة لمحاربة سياسات استخراج المعادن ونزع المياه في إميضر في المغرب. كما قامت بتطوير ورشة "أزمنة مائية: مراكش" في 2020، التي تتبنى كتابة الخيال العلمي كوسيلة لاستكشاف وإنتاج تخيلات جمعية عن مستقبل الماء والمدينة
